Day 12: Humbleness
Scripture:
“But when you are invited, go and sit down in the lowest place, so that when he who invited you comes he may say to you, ‘Friend, go up higher.’ Then you will have glory in the presence of those who sit at the table with you. 11 For whoever exalts himself will be humbled, and he who humbles himself will be exalted.”
Luke 14:10-11
Prayer:
Lord, give us the grace and gratitude to be humble. Help teachers, staff, parents, school administrators, central office staff, board members and us to do all things in the best interest of children and do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. May our words and deeds be done to glorify You, Lord. Help us to be clothed with compassion, kindness, patience, love and humility in Jesus Name we pray. Amen.
Decree:
We decree our humble hearts and spirits are pleasing to God. We trust that You will exalt us in due time if we trust You and remain humble.
5 Promises:
"Humble yourselves before the Lord, and he will exalt you." James 4:10
"Humility is the fear of the Lord; its wages are riches and honor and life." Proverbs 22:4
“To enter God’s presence we must come humbly to the throne.” 1 Peter 5:6
“God says the meek shall inherit the earth.” Matthew 5:5
“If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land.” 2 Chronicles 7:4
Application:
Humbleness has to do with our soul – will, intellect, and emotions. It is what we want, what we think, and what we feel. Do a self-check: Where are you in a scale from 1 to 10 on each of these?
What does humbleness mean in the Bible?
Based on the meaning, can you stand to improve? If so, in what areas?
