Day 20 Devotion
Day 20: Authority
Scripture:
“Every person must submit to and support the authorities over him. For there can be no authority in the universe except by God’s appointment, which means that every authority that exists has been instituted by God.” Romans 13:1
Prayer:
Father help all us to submit and respect those in authority. Your Word says that You have instituted every authority that exists; therefore, today we choose to trust You to protect us, to deliver us and favor us as we obey Your Word. Today we lift up those in authority and ask that You bless and guide them to be people of integrity, give them peace and the wisdom to serve You and Your people with a spirit of excellence. As we pray for those in authority, we remind You of Your promise and ask that You allow us live peaceable lives. In Jesus’ Name we ask. Amen.
Decree:
Father, we decree that our leaders submit to Your authority and that our students, staff and community submit to leaders in obedience to Your Word so that we may all live peaceable lives.
5 Promises:
“Obey your spiritual leaders and recognize their authority, for they keep watch over your soul without resting since they will have to give an account to God for their work. So it will benefit you when you make their work a pleasure and not a heavy burden.” Hebrews 13:17
“First of all, then, I urge that petitions, Prayers, intercessions, and thanksgivings be made for everyone, for kings and all those who are in authority, so that we may lead a tranquil and quiet life in all godliness and dignity.” 1 Timothy 2:1-2
“Remind the people to be subject to rulers and authorities, to be obedient, to be ready to do whatever is good.” Titus 3:1
“And Jesus came up and spoke to them, saying, ‘All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth’.” Matthew 28:18
“But our God is in the heavens; He does whatever He pleases.” Psalm 115:3
Application:
What does authority mean to you?
Who do you have authority over? Are you kind and rule according to the Word of God?
Who has authority over you? Today determine to pray for those in authority over you.
